Amelie was as child forced to stay home, because her parents thought she has a heart defect. She couldn't met other children, so she created her own fantasy life to fight the loneliness. After her mother dies, she moves to France to work as a waitress in Café des 2 Moulins in Montmartre. Few years later she accidentally finds a box concealed under the tiles. It's full of childhood memories of some boy who has lived here. She sets the goal to return the box to its owner and to devote her life to make the others happy, if she succeeds. After many failures, she finally finds the young boy, Raymond Dufayel, and returns him the box. Then she develops secret plans to make everyone happy. While she is trying to bring happines to others, Mr. Dufayle watches her and begins conversations with her. She realizes that she is falling in love with him.
